| Basically, that's just Canon's Cinema Picture Profile with lifted shadows. We find that this PP helps hiding the artifacts that sometimes show up in the lower shadows because of the 4-2-0 / 8 bit compression. What's more, this PP makes it easier to preserve details in the lower shadows when applying a contrast curve to the whole image, as you can easily notice in the final part of the video test, looking at the right side of the couch. |
